July 1th, 2024 - As RHEL 7 has reached EOL on June 30, 2024, ProComputers offers 20% discount for all RHEL 7 virtual machines running in AWS EC2 or Microsoft Azure public clouds and successfully upgraded to RHEL 8.

Who qualifies for this 20% discount?

In order to qualify for this discount, you need to comply with the following two rules:

  1. You need to have at least one active subscription to a ProComputers packaged RHEL 7 image published in either AWS or Azure Marketplaces.
  2. You also need to successfully upgrade at least one of your RHEL 7 virtual machines built using a ProComputers packaged RHEL 7 image to RHEL 8.

It does not matter when you subscribed to these images. You can even subscribe today, start your RHEL 7 virtual machine, and upgrade it to RHEL 8.

Where are the instructions to perform the migration?

Upgrade RHEL 7 to RHEL 8.

MPORTANT: As with any live upgrade, it is very important to prepare well. Make sure you test in advance the upgrade procedure using a test virtual machine. Also, make sure you have backups and/or snapshots of your virtual machine before performing the actual upgrade. PROCOMPUTERS SHALL NOT BE HELD LIABLE FOR ANY LOSS, DAMAGE, OR DISRUPTION RESULTING FROM THE UPGRADE PROCESS. THIS INCLUDES, BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO, DATA LOSS, SERVICE INTERRUPTIONS, OR ANY OTHER ADVERSE EFFECTS THAT MAY ARISE.

How do I request the discount?

Once you successfully performed the upgrade, contact ProComputers Support and request the discount by sending an email with the following information:

  1. email subject: RHEL 7 discount in AWS/Azure public cloud
  2. include in the email your AWS Account ID or Azure Subscription ID
  3. provide a screenshot of PuTTY or other ssh client access to your migrated virtual machine, that contains the output of the following two commands: (1) cat /etc/procomputers-release and (2) cat /etc/redhat-release.

The discount request must always be made through email by clicking the contact link in the paragraph above.

The discount is offered using AWS and Microsoft Azure Marketplaces private offers and associated with the AWS Account ID or Azure Subscription ID provided in the email request.

The discount is not applied to the public cloud usage fees; only the AWS and Microsoft Azure Marketplace seller software charges are discounted.

The discount is applied manually, therefore please allow 2-3 business days for the discount request to be processed. In some situations, some additional information may be requested before processing the discount.

The discount is initially applied for a period of 3 years, and may be extended on request.
